The face behind the flowers.
A little bit of flowers, a lot of figuring it out, and a dream thats still growing.
Hi! My names McKenna and I was born and raised in Tacoma, WA. Growing up my mother owned a flower shop in North End Tacoma for 20 years where I spent afterschool and holidays processing flowers, answering phones, and playing with left over stems. Back then, as a young teen girl, taking over the flower shop was the last thing on my radar. To be quite frank, becoming a florist was never in my five-year plan. But its funny how life works.
After graduating college I started working for the Pierce County Superior Court where I constantly felt like I was missing something, my creative freedom. At that point I was living in a 700 sqft house with over 200 plants and ALWAYS had flowers on the counter. I started coordinating events for friends, designing bridal bouquets for their weddings, soon after coordinating weddings altogether.
What I spent so many years avoiding eventually became my creative outlet—and the thing that had me dreaming about a future filled with flowers.
Two years ago, we moved to Puyallup and bought a home with a couple of acres and a big (some might say slightly ambitious 😅) plan: to grow as many of my own flowers as possible. After a LOT of demo, digging, planting, and good old-fashioned hard work—with no tractors over here just yet—we're finally heading into our first season growing enough flowers to begin sourcing from our own little farm.
And while I’m still learning the ins and outs of farming, floral design, and what it really takes to turn a creative passion into a business, that’s part of what makes this so exciting. Every bouquet, wedding, event, and growing season teaches me something new.
And this is just the beginning.
Summit Blooms is a story that’s still being written—and I’d love for you to be part of it. The flowers will keep growing, the business will keep evolving, and hopefully, somewhere along the way, I’ll get to be a small part of your story, too.
The Summit Blooms Story
2024 - PUTTING DOWN ROOTS
We bought our property in Puyallup, and if you’ve been to our home page, you’ve already seen this land—just a little more wild! While we completely gutted and remodeled the inside of the house, we slowly started tackling the surrounding land, too. What started as an overgrown blank slate was beginning to look like the future home of Summit Blooms.
2025 - THE FIRST BLOOMS
We started small with just five 2' × 30' growing rows and a whole lot of optimism. I planted 100 dahlia tubers alongside zinnias, yarrow, amaranth, and snapdragons.
Let's just say my first season was jam packed and a very fast learning experience. Somehow, that tiny patch was bursting at the seams with flowers! I launched our Bloom Bar, brought it to six events, booked four weddings, and made countless everyday bouquets for our community.
By the end of the season, one thing was clear: 2026 was going to need more space.
2026 - GROWING THE DREAM
After a VERY busy fall and spring spent clearing brush and trees, the back acre was finally ready for planting. And this time, we went big.
We expanded to 28 growing beds and planted more than 300 dahlia tubers, along with zinnias, yarrow, amaranth, snapdragons, statice, craspedia, daucus, scabiosa, and Bells of Ireland.
The business grew right along with the farm: I worked 8 weddings, brought the Bloom Bar to 6 events, and launched our very first CSA bouquet subscription.
What started as five little rows was officially becoming a flower farm—and I couldn't be more excited to see where it goes next.
2027 - WHAT’S NEXT?
Honestly? I'm not entirely sure yet. And I think that's part of the fun. The farm will keep growing, Summit Blooms will keep evolving, and there are plenty of ideas waiting in the wings.
Whatever comes next, I can promise you one thing: You'll want to be here for it. 🌸
